Wife's car was in the garage this morning for a niggling problem. They hooked it up, did their stuff. Then they washed and vacced it.
Got a phone call from them saying no joy with the fault, and it would need to be seen by the franchised dealer. Went to pick it up expecting a wee charge for the time spent on it, and they did say before we took it in that there was a £40 charge for the diagnostic work. No charge sir, and sorry to have wasted your time. Stunned!

Thats nice!
We have a fault on our Landy, and we took it to our local yokel fella, who sent us somewhere else as he didn't have the diagnostic jobby for it...said trade to them on the phone. Fair we got a small charge for them hooking it up and fiding the fault, but the bloke also told us where to find the broken sensor, and that its time consuming(and expensive) so best to do it ourselves(cheaper) and when we'd done it, to go back and they'd reset the fault for free! Now its probably because its an absolute ar$e to get to, and they couldn't be bothered, but to try saving us money in labour charges, and save us a diagnostic charge was nice I thought.

I wish...when my car (which is in warranty) had a fault a couple of months back, the garage picked it up and drove it 20 miles to their garage, using the last of MY diesel...put a tenners worth in so they could test it and then tried to bill me for the diesel! G..T..F was my answer!

But but but... The Org whingers say that all mechanics and similar are robbers and stealers, con artists who will do nothing, or worse, bad work ruining your machine and ripping you off for your every last penny.
You must obviously be wrong, they cannot possibly have been honest and decent people.
