I've been noticing a few tiny drops of oil underneath the bike the past few weeks and it seems the SV has a minor leak. Only a few drops seem to form over 3/4 days so it's nothing serious.
The oil seems to be coming from the bottom bolt on the clutch cover. Is it likely to be the cover gasket that has perished? If so how much would I be looking at for a new one? Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also, what grease should be used on the new gasket? Doesn't say in the manual?

Not sure if your supposed to put anything on that gasket as it's more like an o-ring?
Try the new gasket first and if it continues the plastic clutch cover may have warped in shape. |

Oh right fair do's. Just that I had a quick google and a few links from svrider.com advised using a grease with the o-ring.

i used grease when we changed the shadows one-but can't remember if it was red rubber or normal we used.

I had the same thing, after changing the big gasket and the o ring I ended up changing the cover and that fixed it. On the other SV I am experimenting with fitting the case from a pointy as that gets rid of the clutch cover.

Wondering if I'd just be able to get away with replacing the o-ring and a bit of gasket sealant? New clutch covers seem to be £40+ and mine's in mint nick so a shame to swap!

im in the same boat.
stood the bike on the paddock stand over the weekend and had a small puddel of oil on the floor. going to have a look at re-sealing it next weekend when i do a service. if it is bent ill leave it till ive got the cash for a new one. just keep an eye on oil level and not leave it on paddock without a small pot under it.
