Default THAT left handed threaded engine bolt

Ive got THAT left handed bolt to tighten and i dont have a reverse torque wrench, i know a few of you have done this. What tips do you have a refitting it? - i dont want to have to resort to buying a new wrench for a one off job!

Ive got one of these.

in all seriousness the LH threads I have encountered are just a reverse of RH threads i.e lefty Tighty, righty Loosy?

For which I use an ordinary torque wrench?

Is this one ooober special?

Im pretty sure most torque wrenches wont torque in reverse by default even though they have a reverse switch at the head. This could result in over tighten or snapped heads

Does the head of your wrench come off? As in the bit you attach the sockets to? I know mine does which makes it reversible so you can torque left handed. If not, what torque should it be?

120nm torque . . Im sure the heads fixed . . Reversible torques start at around 60 quid . . . Fek that !

Edit: i thinks its 80nm torque

I was of the opinion that torque wrenches will toque correctly in both directions, my two do. Dave.

In the grand scheme of things 120Nm is rather tight and by the look of your "Challenge" Torque wrench its not going to be that accurate anyway so I'd go with: Lock something up in a vice and simulate 120Nm RH Thread with the TR and going by feel apply the same force to the Bolt.

That or if you live anywhere near a garage find an old geezer and get it done propper.

edit:

Google Images says that you have a reversable ratchet, just flip that little switch on tha back:

Just seen the above thread, you have what is required, If you doubt that it works both ways try turning a bolt locked in a vice you will find the same torque both directions, Dave.

Yeah, as above 120 is pretty close to "b@$7ard tight" using a standard length spanner or ratchet, so do it up to what feels right and if worried get it checked at a local garage. Or try the reverse setting on your torque wrench!!! xxx
