I am looking at getting a GPS data logger for Kate, as she has taken up jogging, in preparation for the Plymouth half-marathon.
It doesn't need all the bells and whistles, mainly as I can't afford them! I wouldn't mind being able to put it under the seat on the bike for Sunday hoons or track days either. Needs to log speed, distance and time. Calories and lap/split would be good too but not essential. So, give me some recommendations please. Regards Phil |

You can download things like Endomondo or Adidas micoach onto most smartphones. If you don't have a phone that will cope Adidas micoach sells a heartrate monitor and tracker that work together with their website.

What data are you after? I know with Endomondo you get mile splits, total time, a trace of the route, a joint graph of speed and altitude and if you use their HR monitor to link via bluetooth you can get heartrate.
Not sure about micoach because I've never used it. If you've got the cash and want something with bells and whistles you probably want something like a garmin forerunner, but I've never been serious enough to spend that much on it. |

Best bet would be to buy a cheap Android phone, you can get them for less than £100 these days.

I've attached a coupld of pics showing what you can get from a free app.
First one is running, second is on the bike. Use this on the iphone now, but at the time these were tracked it was a Nokia 5800. You can get the split by hovering over the mile markers. ![]() |
