Valve clearances

Ok so i checked the valve clearances and this is what i got

Front cylinder

EX/R - 0.009
EX/L - 0.010

IN/R - 0.006
IN/L - 0.005

Rear cylinder

EX/R - 0.008
EX/L - 0.008

IN/R - 0.005
IN/L - 0.004

The tappet clearance specification is different for intake and
exhaust valves .
Tappet clearance must be checked and adjusted, 1) at the time
of periodic inspection, 2) when the valve mechanism is serviced,
and 3) when the camshafts are disturbed by removing them for
servicing .
Tappet clearance (when cold):
IN . : 0.10 - 0.20 mm (0 .004 - 0.008 in)
EX. : 0.20 - 0.30 mm (0 .008 - 0 .012 in)

You are right on the lower limit with a few of them there assuming you are using Imperial measurements... Edited because I mis-read them as metric and typed a whole load of twaddle about measuring up for new shims.

NOTE, I am using the specs for a Pointy here as it is what I have.

I was a bit confused there until I worked out you've used an imperial feeler gauge.

On the new fangled metric system the clearance spec is 0.1 to 0.2 mm IN and 0.2 to 0.3mm EX.

If my conversion is correct, yours look to be in spec.

EDIT: Just read Stonesie's post. Assuming the measurements are imperial (which they surely must be) then they're all within spec.

But its all good now.

Im doing an oil and filter change tomorrow for the ride down to guernesy with the maud on the back on wednesday and with all the paniers tank bag ruck sack ect... what a hike thats going to be! staying in poole for the night then to weymouth for a ferry at 8am.
going to a wedding on the day of the royal wedding lol.
