Default Egham electricians!

My indicators aren't working. And I can't figure out why. It's not obvious stuff like wrong bulbs.

Would anyone be so awesome as to pop by and have a look sometime? I live in TW20. I'm happy to pay if someone can actually help, I just don't want to pay £35ph for a mechanic...

Thanks for any help!

have you done any diagnostics at all ? any history? did they all just stop working at one point, have you changed anything? had any other electrical issues? fitted led's ? checked the switch? buzzed out the wiring?

or is that what you're expecting someone else to do

Cheers Mark.

Egham to Sunbury is not very far at all. Pop over to see Spannerman.

Mine stopped working the other day, tracked it back to my Flasher Relay that I bodged on when I went LED lighting - lucky me it had just come disconnected.

Might be worth looking at that if you have done this mod.

Also - have you checked the fuse?

Ok, it's a Vmax 1200, 2003 model. Non-original indicators.

It had Chinese indicators originally which had the wrong wattage bulbs, so they flashed, just quicker than they should. So, I bought correct bulbs and better quality indicators, each with an earth and live wire, all connected correctly as per Haynes manual. When I activated the indicator, I got the clicking noise but nothing more. Now I get absolutely nothing. But I know the bulbs work because if I wire them incorrectly to test they all light up.

Not LED's. What is "buzzing out the wiring"?

I love spannerman, but I simply cannot afford even an hour with him.

so it's never worked with the "new" indicators, by the sound of it you've overloaded the relay and then blown it, try the old indicators on the relay, I suspect it'll not work on them now either so will need replacing.

"Buzzing out" is checking with a meter the continuity of the wiring runs between the components, and standard practice when dealing with electrical issues.

Cheers Mark.

Is the indicator signal on your dashboard flashing when indicating?

OK, I now know that the flasher relay isn't broken. All the lights turn on, the dashboard lights all work, until I try and indicate, then the 10amp fuse blows, regardless of which set of indicators I have plugged in. Any ideas?
