Isle of Man TT 2012- Travel advice
Evening all
Its now the holiday planning season and I'm attacking the Isle of Speed for the Trophy. I'm going over with the bike (and possibly as a Marshall), so the boatman and the Fynepioneer is out of the question. What I'm needing to know is the Steam Packet arrangements, as I do know other dates/ better sailing do come-up as people cancel. I'm also needing to know a bit of info with the homestay, as I'm thinking about doing it (failing that the tent!). Thanks in advance Andy

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012- Travel advice
Tbf I'd forget about taking the bike, we booked the day bookings opened and the dates we got are naff as we have the full week but have to stay 3 days after the racing finishes..... so the chances of you getting a bike space now are probably 1% and even with a cancellation I very much doubt you'll get a bike space for the 2 weeks

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012- Travel advice
Hope you can get booked for TT week, it gets booked up very quickly, as Wideboy says. As for camping, if you don't mind a little bit of travelling to the course (about 2 miles) Luckypants told me about a great campsite in Peel. It's clean, has showers & toilets. I've used it twice in the last 2 years & will be going again this year too (unless my missus gets her way & we end up in a yurt, or a bloody wigwam).
I'm doing the Southern, not the TT, it's quieter & the racing is just as good

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012- Travel advice
Cheers Col that site is on the list now.
TBH if I do go over and marshall mileage aint an issue. I'm looking at the sailings and probably go via Liverpool as there sailings that I could easily do, Holidays aren't an issue as I'm carrying some over and there is technically two bank holidays in the period

Don't know why I didn't link to the site before. Here you go. http://www.peelonline.net/wheretostay/campsite.htm
Marshalling would be the best way to watch anyway. Right on the track & no one in front of you to block the view lol. just seen that they are fully booked for TT. Sorry
