Just bought these off ebay for a stupidly low price of £24 + Free postage.
My Sv is black so they will be getting re-sprayed but looking at the pictures it looks like I may need to fix the lower left panel. Now I have fiber glass repair kits (for kayaks) at work. How hard would it be to fix? as I've never tried before. Crack is in the lower right, just above the date stamp. This is the right side which doesn't look half bad. I can't complain due to them only costing £24 but would like them fixed and looking good. Thanks Last edited by AZZ3R; 30-01-12 at 11:17 PM. |

my right side was like your left, plenty of elbow grease with some sand paper and it was done.
At £24 you cant go wrong, thats dirt cheap. |

Tell me about it, I have a preferance saved on my iphone that lists all the latest SV99-02 listings & this came up, I thought either something is really wrong or the seller doesn't know what/how much they can be sold for. I was cheeky enough to ask for the fixing kits & he's agreed, hehe.
Would you reckon araldite will do the job? Because of where I work I can get an old carbon paddle, strip it back so it creates a peice which should bridge the gap. Unsure how it would hold up though. *Edit* Thanks for changing the title. |

Fibre glass patch on the inside will do the best job IMO, it will strengthen it also.

Mine were worst than yours and cost 40 quid so well done you.
Top tip from my mate who is a pro car repairer and does bikes as a sideline. Any cracks use a dremel along the length of it about a third deep. Fill with Q-bond using some of the filler they provide in the pack if the gap is too wide. Let it go off and then do the same on the other side of the crack. Then loads of wet and dry till it is all smooth. For an exact match go to RS Paints who aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. And then get a pro to spray them. Cost me a fortune and I have no fingerprints left from all the sanding. But she does look the DB's now so it was worth it. Good luck |

plastic weld the inside (works better than fibre glass on GRP), V groove the crack and use some fibreglass resin to fill it, sand down flat and paint.
Cheers Mark.
