What are peoples thoughts about the new Suzuki GSXR 1000?
Trying to make up my mind about a new 1000cc? BMW S1000rr (with heated grips!) , Honda CBR1000, Aprillia RSV4 or GSXR1000? (Ducati just a bit too pricey for me). |

easy answer. go and test ride them and decide which one you like.
personally i don't see the need to have a 1000cc bike on British roads, but each to their own i suppose. |

Coming from a GSXR owner, I don't like the new one. There is a complete lack of inspiration from the designer and IMO it looks dated and bland. Aesthetically the GSXR hasn't really changed since the 09 model came out. Suzuki are also trying to pass off its 3 way mode switch as a form of traction control Its just a gimic. We all know when they do the big litre bike test in the summer its gonna be at the back of the pack again. Bring back the lunacy of the K1, K2 and K5 days i'd say.
In saying that i will still be attending the launch at Saltire Suzuki on the 11th Feb. I've test rode the BMW S1000RR and its a bonkers bike, thought it handled better than my thou and the Brembo stoppers where faultless. Can't comment on the Aprillia or Honda though. I do like the Aprillia ![]() I'd say try them all and buy the one that you feel is right for you ![]()

Without a test ride has to be the RSV4 I say but as said test ride them all....also do yourself a favour and test ride an SMT, better suited to the British roads

the bmw may do every thing you want,BUT i assume like all the other 4s they make, its reliability is rubbish, gearbox and clutch problems that cost 3k a throw, electrics that are not very robust the blade, does every thing its supposed to, with that honda build quality, but for me a bit to extreme, ill stick with my 929 the aprillia well what do we say,its italian and the first batch broke there conrods, would you want to own one of these when its done 50k and is 5 years old,not for me and then there is the gsxr, dont know what its like to live with but suzuki know how to put a bike together and make them last so in my eyes the blade would be infront of the others followed by the gsxr |

Cheers for the replys. I have had a test ride last year on the bmw s1000rr, an absolute riot but at high speed numbers, not sure I could control myself all the time. The 2010 CBR I liked but after a test run I just couldn't get the bike to fit me, not very comfortable (In my opinion). Skinners in Dundee didnt have an RSV4 demo bike when I rang so still to sit on that wee beast. Every Suzuki I have had has fitted me like a glove from wee blasts to town riding hence why i am still looking at this for my next one. Still all new crop out now and I am sure that I will get to sit on the new ones at the bike show to help me make up my mind.

Rsv4 from an aesthetics pov. The sound of it too is amazing. If you test ride it and like it... Then get it. It's the stand out from the crowd one in my opinion.

Obviously price will also come into the equation:
Honda CBR1000RR £12000 OTR BMW S1000RR £12,295 plus £1360 for sports package RSV4 APRC £14128 OTR GSXR1000 £10999 And what will I get to trade in my GSXR 750 K8 now that’s the big question! ![]() |
