Default Insurance & it dropping?

Just wondering what age or NCB did you see your insurance drop dramatically?

I'm currently 18 - 19 in June, got 2 NCB on the bike. & it seems both times insruance hasn't droped abit.

Comming from the 125 - 650 it stayed the same (but I got a bigger bike in theory) so, kinda' happy it didn't just double. Just thought I'd have a gandar on some insruance comp sites, found that for an 09' gladius, I'm being quoted almost double my current price.

I also did a quote on a 06' Er6-n came back at £800 TPFT - Not again.

I know theres alot that is taken into consideration for insurance, at the moment I'm paying £750 TPFT - With everything covered. & yes to some of the older folk on here, thats close to another bike & close to 3x what your paying. But for where I live, age, years on the road, what I will use the bike for, it's that price for a reason I guess.

Also how many years do you have to gain before you can protect it? I was told 4?

Just wondering, how long you had been biking before you saw a decent/ substantial amount drop from your previous - new quote.

Cool, Look forward to it, & I agree, Just got a quote back.

It's cheaper for me to insure an 04' R6 than a 08 Er6-n. Go figure.

Traditionally it was *cough* 25 *cough*
I'm expecting mine to go up at renewal. Cheers BFM mines at 3 years this year

Also look at the cost of Fully Comp as it was £75 ish cheaper than TPFT for me this year

our age group has been screwed with chasing the rainbow for the magical age. when i was 17, 21 was the age it dropped, then when i was 25 it was 30...now like you say, in most cases its going up or just leveling out.

still, nice to know we're subsidising all the over 50's insurance! rage.

Bike age/value is an enormous contributing factor when you consider the number of accidents where no other vehicle or person is involved. As to riders age,yes being older is beneficial but only if you have a good driving record. Most older riders were younger riders like yourself so the subsidising comment is a bit unfair as most of us have been there and got the t-shirt.

When I was 18 it cost me a months wages to insure my bike

Which way? You're more likely to not give a **** about an old crappy bike/it's suspension & brakes might not be up to much ...or a newer bike will be more powerful and nickable?

When I was 18 I paid £2500 for the car and nearing £500 for the sv if I recall correctly, but my bike figures are a bit hazy - the outrage keeps the car premiums fresh in my mind.

Older cheaper on both counts and as for a car at 18 I could never afford one but that is what the progress of time does.

When I went to a (5 year) newer bike (another sv) my premiums went down, but hard to tell if age going up buffered this. Although the mid-term switch was negligable. it's gone up since. If I want an old VTR1000 it's well over double what I pay for the SV - yet another member of the site has a 2007 gsxr 750 which cost him less than I pay for the SV. I've stopped trying to fathom it now my head hurts , there is no logic.

I don't think I could!
