Default next bike, your suggestions ?

So Monday the docs and keys get sent off for the KTM, from there on it's no longer anything to do with me, to cheer me up I can at least think of what I'll get as a replacement.

Call me greedy if you like but I like having at least two bikes on the road at any given time, for those that don't know I have a Triumph speed four; it's got a drop plate on the left footpeg for my knee, straight handlebar conversion, heated grips, topbox, all that sort of thing, it'll do just about everything I need, so the totally practical IL4 thing is covered, I can only think of one other bike I actually want that would go well with it and I'm not sure of that (I'll sort out a test ride soon) but apart from that I'm finding it hard to think of anything else*, so I'll lay down a criteria and let you guys give me inspiration.

In no priority order.

not an IL4
nothing brand new, say 2005 onwards ish...
relaxed riding position (think dinning room chair kind of thing)
decent quality suspension
relatively light in overall weight
comfortable cruising speed (sit at 70-80 for a full tank)
no clipon's or race type position
under 800cc & over 500cc
although I've had 11 of the Hinkley Triumphs, I'm not into anything they make with the 675/800 triple so discount them.

So the ball's in your court, suggest away.....

Cheers Mark.

the trouble is I've had a lot of bikes over the years and apart from big tourers or custom things have had just about every other type, I would consider a naked pointy 650, but it'd need at least some suspension work

Brother has the dorito factory thing, and I've tried both that and the Shiver, neither float my boat, Ducati's are a little fragile for the amount of use I tend to put on my bikes, but good try.

I don't know if it's your cup of tea, how about an F800GS

whilst they maybe all the rage at the moment it took 17 weeks in a full leg cask and an inability to change gear to get me on one before, as I don't have those restrictions at the moment....it isn't going to happen.

I find the big off road style a bit pointless to be honest added to that the quality issues with the F800's and they are not so appealing .

Cheers Mark.

Paul I'm old, but not that old..., seriously though, I couldn't live with the vtec system (I rode one back from cornwall a few years back) and besides they are about 220kg dry, so far to heavy.

Cheers Mark.
