Hey all,
I am about to undertake a coolant change in the SV. I have Castrol Motorcycle Coolant that is suitable for aluminum components (says not recommended for magnesium alloy engines). It also says do not add water in the directions. Is this suitable for the SV? Can I use it / should I do what it says or should I add 50% distilled water? Anyone ever tried it? I have quite a lot of the stuff as I never used it. Many thanks! |

If it is pre-diluted then you don't need to add water. You only add water to 100% strength anti-freeze to get the required 50% water/glycol mix.
I would suggest you follow the directions on the bottle. Any glycol based anti-freeze is safe for the SV. If in doubt, call their helpline or website: A quick looks gives: Castrol Motorcycle Coolant is a pre-diluted (ethylene glycol based, fully formulated) heat transfer fluid, developed to meet the requirements of all water-cooled motorcycles and scooters
