Default Heingericke Farnborough

Unless you've been living in a cave you'd have heard by now that Hein Gericke are having a closing down sale.

Tech stuff (Oil, bulbs, tools etc) were 70% off most other things 50% off. As you might imagine not a lot left but I do now have a shed full of oil and a caliper retract tool which although entirely unnecessary was only a fiver

They had an SV650 air filter on the shelf and loads of batteries but I didn't check if they had an SV one as I don't need one.

Anyway I was in there yesterday and two useful pieces of information.
1. It is suspected that Farnborough is one of the stores that the new owners will keep running.
2. They will be adding clearance stock from other stores today (Friday 7th) but will be closed for much of the day for stock-checking and the like.

I hate this situation. I REALLY don't need anything but i want to buy everything because it is 50-70% off.

I've got about 4 years supply of oil now. Will be getting a 20 year supply of lightbulbs when they get restocked.

Still a few boots in there and a few helmets if you have a huge or tiny head.

Certainly worth a look as apparently much of the re-stock is "tech kit" so will be 70% off.

They have treated their staff really badly in all of this. So I'm boycotting them on principle.

Apparently they will be trading as per normal from Monday according to the guys at HG Chiswick. A buyer (HG Germany) has been found:

That was released on 29th August...our own member Amanda, who worked at HG Bournemouth has had to endure watching her store be stripped bare...she only posted a photo of it on FB yesterday.

I hope for her sake this is happening, but it didn't look good from the picture and timescale involved. At least not for her store and her job.

Let's remember...while you may enjoy discounts and you should enjoy them...people are losing jobs. One of our own in fact.

Thinking of you Amanda x

From what I heard. Current stock is owned by the Administrators and is being sold off. When the new owners take over they will be re-stocked with HG goods. Seems madness but apparently thats how administrators work.

Staff in my local store are all pretty positive about their future.

Boycotting the "relaunched" stores will just ensure they all close down so does not really help anyone.

I for one will continue to get HG goods as they are usually pretty good value.

Amanda has just told me that of the 49 stores in the UK, the new owners are only keeping 10 open.

Unfortunately for Amanda, that means that she is at the very raw end of this.

Yes it happens, and I am pleased for the staff of the chosen 10 stores, but they have handled it extremely poorly.

Apparently the Bournemouth store only had 2 hours notice of the actual closure yesterday....and that is, by any standards, disgraceful!

Yep, my store in Bournemouth closed permanently yesterday with half an hours notice. My stock went to Farnborough!!

Pay day for August is Monday so fingers crossed we still get that. They are talking about redundancy pay but no specifics so I'm not sure it applies to self employed managers like myself. Not a great situation at all.

Today I joined the unemployed statistics! Not good.
