OMG did anybody see this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13548222
There must be some people on here that are local to this home, was this common knowledge and is that tattooed Wayne (ker) a known local idiot or what. I saw he wore a motorcycle leather, does anybody know him? I would love to bump into him at a bike meet, corr would I be in trouble! This is terrible and I hope they are all jailed and bullied until they sob for their mums. That would make for a nice follow up story BBC take note. |

13 staff suspended and 4 have now been arrested, totally sickening what they were doing, lock them up and lose they key would still be too good for them.

That programme was the most distressing thing I think I have EVER seen on the television. I was crying throughout. Nobody, nobody, deserves to be treated in such an abusive and humiliating way (and neither do any animals even)
I appreciate that caring for such people can be a difficult and challenging job, and one that should be better trained for and therefore paid for, but the behaviour of so many of those staff was beyond the pale. I see that some have been arrested this morning and I hope they get fully what they deserve. Made me so ashamed of sme aspects of our society, and I cringed when I saw the bike jacket. My heart genuinely does go out to those abused and their families

SK - I'm not sure the camera dude actually did much if any of the "abusing". It must have been horribly difficult for him to do what he did and not blow his cover. |

No, he should not get prosecuted, in my opinion, but it REALLY should be up the the legal system to decide.

If you wanted to take that standpoint you could argue that everytime you stood by and watched someone get lamped in a pub you're as guilty of assault as the person who hit them, because you did nothing to stop it. (Not saying that to you in particular SK, just that some could argue that point iyswim!) Back on topic - how the feck did those wasters even get jobs in there when there are so many GOOD and decent people who cant get work for love nor money, who wouldnt dream of treating someone like that. Surely you have to have a bit of paper to safe you're "appropriate" to work with vulnerable adults/children etc. I know I do. I was sickened and angry at the way they treated those people, and I'll bet thats just the tip of the iceberg. |

I do the same job as these people (caring for mentally disabled people with challenging behaviour) and I was sickened to the core.
It is a hard job and does require he'll of a lot of patience and self control at times. But at the end of the day you know that they can't help their behaviour and at most parts don't mean it. Their use of "restraint" was appalling. I say restraint but what they were doing was just abuse and a game to them. We only restrain as a very last option and yes we have to but not often. It tends to aggravate the situation more at first but has to be done for the safety of themselves and others. If done correctly it does work and you end up past the crisis point. I hope that they get what they deserve and that the patients arent too scarred from the ordeal. It takes a lot to gain someones trust and they have probably shattered every ounce of trust these patients had for carers. Sorry if I am mumbling but I am at work now (on break) so it is a point thatt is very close to my heart |

Guy's got to have massive balls to have done that - if they were doing that to the patients, imagine what they may have done to prevent it getting out... |
