Mod2 passed today, SV650S searching!

Hey,

Sure you've all felt like I am right now (like i've won the lottery). I passed Mod2 today and I'm now looking to buy a SV650S for my first bike. Any advice on whether this is a good move/private/dealership would be appreciated!

Great idea.Buy an older cheap one to learn on for a year or so.That way you can make all the little mistakes we all do and not worry too much about it.

Always a good move, or are we all biased, hmm!!

I've always bought private and it will be the better deal 99.99% of the time as long as its straight, take a friend if needed to have a look over like I did.

I passed mine last year and bought an sv650s , great bike to learn on with the power that it has , and great to learn to do all the maintenance that you want to do and mods , I would get a second hand one private , keep an eye on here as they do come up , if not ebay as long as you can go and check it out , or local paper , hope you get one soon

Congrats! and welcome to a great forum!. Passed my test october 2011 and bought a K4 within a week! Awesome first bikes! are you restricted or full license?

Well done i passed in september and bought mine the next day (k4 pointy) i should have looked about as i didnt care what bike i got as long as i got shot of my 125 lol.

I went to a dealer and chopped the 125 in against it.

I think the sv is a great bike but i think if i looked about i probably would have ended up on a gsxr600 as i love the look of them but i in no way regret buying the sv.

Congratulations! I've recently passed my Mod 2 (January) too and bought a 2004 Pointy SV. Great bike and fairly easy to get used to. You'll find they're a lot sportier riding position compared to most school bikes.

Thanks for all the welcoming replies! I'm not restricted, see there is a plus side to being 24!! I was thinking of going private, it's nice to know they come up on here though, i'll have a look on the sale section.

I'm hoping to get one in the next few weeks. If there are any group rides going on i'd love to tag along..provided you lot don't mind an absolute new born rider!
