Well here it is – the single biggest amount of fettling I’ve ever done to any bike ever.
Started in December last year with the intention of firstly converting my faired curvy into a naked with clip-ons (purely for tarty aesthetic reasons!) but also with the intention of sorting out how it handles and stops. I knew it was going to be slow-going and expensive, but it turns out I underestimated on both counts! Anyway, this is a collection of photos that show my progress from those cold winter months to where it is now, and I’ll continue to update it as I finish it off. So to begin, a 2002 SV650s in blinding yellow in one piece: ![]() ![]() Then came the removal process! Front end stuff: ![]() Looks like a naked already!! ![]() Rear end plastics off, end can off: ![]() Tank, airbox etc off: ![]() Radiator off: ![]() First issue – clutch cover has slight leak!! ![]() Pretty grim looking front sprocket / clutch cable: ![]() |

And now the reason why I continue to be cursed by YC:
WIRING ![]() ![]() Mocking up headlight mounts so YC can make up a bracket for my oh-so-shexy Koso speedo unit: ![]() Tank popped on purely for visuals: ![]() And that's yer lot for now! |

What rear shock is that? Any plans to target brakes?

It's a ZX-10 shock I believe. Yep bought braided lines but the threads on bolts were sent incorrectly so waiting for replacements. Other than than, standard SV calipers should suffice for me

cool, is the ZX-10 shock a popular upgrade to the bike then, is the standard one really that bad?

Aye it seems to be. Standard SV suspension feels like a pogo stick especially when you weight more than a HB pencil!

What would be really good would be a ZX10 one with a longer shaft and stronger spring.
Or a proper shock... ![]()
