Default Chinese brake discs - any experiences?

I'm looking at a complete set for the blade and in amongst all the Armstrong / OEM stuff, I keep seeing stuff like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Full-Set-F...item2a262b36ed

At £160 for all 3, that's less (way less in fact) than a pair of fronts will cost me for OEM / branded.

Brakes is one area in particular where I'm really not looking to scrimp - if I have to go OEM, I will (wincing as I pull our my wallet).

Anyone taken a punt on these Chinese discs?

If something is drastically cheaper than anything else, whether it be OEM, upgrades or replacement ask yourself where have they saved themselves the money?
Personally i wouldn't touch them and would stick with OEM or aftermarket discs that have had a lot more R & D has gone into them, and are made by a recognised manufacturer.

Cheers

OEM is best of course, but I wouldn't take too many chances with brake discs

I know Bib has these on his SV, and rates them. British made

Don't forget, if you buy the Chinese ones, you could get stung for Duty & Tax, which wouldn't make so cheap

Personally I don't think the cheap Chinese discs will be dangerous. I can't imagine a scenario where they explode or otherwise fail catastrophically. That seems highly unlikely. What I would expect to happen from cheaper discs is perhaps premature warping, less friction, more scoring etc. if they don't come up to scratch I think it will be because they become shabby and poor sooner rather than crumbling to pieces at 100mph.

So I'd say don't be afraid to take a punt, but don't be surprised if they show signs of failure within a year, or perhaps have manufacturing inaccuracies like width, radius etc.
