Default Refitting clutch cover? Curvy.

Hi All,

I went to change the oil & filter today, oil out filter off & OK. Then I think that I'll have a look at the clutch. Clutch cover off, undo six clutch spring screws & OK. Then I remove the plates, and half of one of the friction plates falls out. It's shattered into three pieces. So I've got a new plate on order.

Then I go to put the remaining pieces back together, and the o-ring/gasket seems to be too long to fit in the groove in the clutch cover. How? It came out, so why won't it go back in? I also notice that face of the clutch cover and the groove for the o-ring isn't a circle any more. No matter how much I try, I can't get the o-ring to fit into the clutch cover any more. What's going on? How do I get it all back together?

Default Re: Just a Simple Oil Change, and Then ...

Those O rings can be a total pain in the tits. Try dry the oil off everything and hold it back in the groove with a smidge of grease.

Fiddly b*stards!

Degrease it with a solvent like brake cleaner or similar, and leave it for a while, a few hours at least or sometimes overnight - it will shrink quite a bit.
