Default Recovery recommendations?

Hello Orgers,

I come forth yet again with another question.

Having ended up in a situation on a ride out yesterday where by one key part of the motorcycle may have parted company from the rest of the bike.

Bike is safely back to a relatives (thanks to a horse trailer).

Incase something happens rather further from home, do any of you have any recommendations on recovery firms (AA, RAC etc.)?

I'm after info on who's got the best service, who's the best priced, who to avoid. Anything really.

Cheers

J

I'm with the RAC, they have been good with me in the past and recover after accidents (AA didn't, don't know if this is the case) they also price matched for me come renewal and saved me a fair bit.

Rescuemybike.com

Only thing is their personal/any vehicle cover wouldn't cover anything over 20 years old which I thought was a bit of a p*ss take.

I'm covered with greenflag (via my bank account). I've used them before which was ok - only they sent a car truck instead of a flat bed! Luckily my bike was at work, so I made alternative arrangements to get home.

Found it quite funny watching the guy pushing it through the snow the following morning to the flat bed.

Needed to add that I'm RAC for cars and bike, like YC, there are probably bike only companies that would end up cheaper.

I have a family RAC policy that covers me/wife/daughters, not the vehicles. So my bike should be covered. At present I also have a separate policy to cover the bike.

Many policies state they will not recover after an accident. I guess they would charge and look to recover costs against the vehicle insurance. My bike policy specifically says they will recover. Useful after a drop etc where you might not want insurance involvement.

If you can afford to pay the bill at roadside and claim back later look at Autoaid. Covers you and spouse in any vehicle inc. bikes. £30 odd a year I think.
Used their services twice, both times excellent speed and service with quick payout.

Actually it is rescuemycar.com but covers both. Sure it was rescuemybike when I first signed up and rescuemybike.com redirects to their site... Anyway...

I also found that agreeing to a £40 excess halved the cost of the policy.
