Default Hosting again

There have been a few changes recently over who offer what so question is who would you either recommend or avoid for online photo hosting.

Got about 10 gigs worth of unsorted stuff. Ideally I should sort them out, tag them and dump the garbage. However in the real world I'll probably just dump them all somewhere instead.

Looking for somewhere that's likely to be there for the foreseable future, able to cope with bulk uploads, ideally simple to retro-tag images oh and free of low cost.

I'm all windows so no worries ref apple compatibility.

Thoughts?

Picasa is what my sister used when she went travelling. Still on there and I doubt they are going far soon as it is google.

I use falcoda. The cheapest uk host I've found. I've been with them for around 12 months - never had an issue.

Flickr are pretty strong again since their inclusion with iOS7 when they gave everyone 1TB of space and the hosting of full size images for free users.

I've got a pro account and a free account for the less than ideal ones.

I use Photobucket, picasa & Facebook for my everyday pics, but also use Flickr freebie for the pics I like the best

Why not use Dropbox. Relatively easy to get enough space for a decent library? Others could be better but I do find Dropbox better than eg:Photobucket for speed.

Drop box is quite small, you can increase the free space by referring friends, uploading from a mobile and all other kinds of BS.

But if he has 10gb already you are instantly looking at a pay service with Dropbox.

Unless you have a LOT of friends to refer and instal it on their pc's!

According to my app the 100gb option is £70 a year

Turns out I've got 35gig so need to have a clear out before I do anything as I really don't want to be paying to store junk.

Is anyone actually disciplined enough to sort through images after you dump the CF onto your hard drive?

Is Flickr suitable for bulk storage or more suited to decent albums if selected pics?

Flickr is suitable for both, I use two accounts for that purpose as my golden rule of photography is only show your best work. but I also want to share some other stuff with friends, so I have two accounts (they could both be free but one was a pro account from when pro got you a lot of benefits, now, not so much)

for sorting through them to some degree I'd perhaps use adobe bridge or lightroom (there might be a free alternative that someone knows of (picasa app wasn't bad actually now I think of it) to enable you to select the wheat from the chaff then upload to wherever you choose.

I DO sort my images when I download them as part of my workflow (I tag images with 1 star that I can do something with, then process and if they are improved then I'll put a 2-3 star rating on) but even when done I still don't delete the others. Sometimes I'll go back through in another mood and make something different from one of them.
