Anybody local to hereford area fancy helping me get my curvy running?
Bike turns over but won't catch! I can smell fuel from the exhaust just unsure where to start looking! Bike has been stood but has fresh fuel and is connected to my car via jump leads to help it keep cranking Bike has been cranked for about 10 minutes in 30 second bursts so I don't bugger the starter So guys where do I start? |

First pull spark plug after trying to crank the bike - is it wet?
If wet then fuel is getting into cylinder but not combusting. If dry then fuelling issue - no fuel getting into cylinder IF you are getting fuel into cylinder then the next step is to check for a spark - pull the HT lead off the plug and stick a screwdriver or something of the sort into the HT lead. Hold onto the plastic handle and hold the side of the screwdriver about 1 cm away from engine block - use common sense, don't hold onto metal part - you'll get a shock, and obviously don't try near fuel! When you crank the bike you should see very obvious sparks grounding on the engine block. No spark - electrical fault (sensor / ignition coil, etc) Spark - then in theory bike should be trying to go This a start in diagnosing whats up with it. Hope it helps |

If you do a search on here for choke plungers you will find some useful information. Its a good idea to service the choke plungers and cable on a curvy regularly as they often cause poor running if left.
