Default Exhaust baffle

Just a random thing.
I was cleaning my exhaust (I have a Bos oval carbon fibre can), I took it off, cleaned off the carbon deposits and polished up the steel parts. Including the outlet, which involved removing the baffle (just so I could get into all the little nooks, cos I'm quite pedantic haha) and I noticed that the baffle was just a straight pipe that wasn't bunged at the end or perforated.

Is it still technically a baffle or it it basically just there to look like one? Haha i'm just curious, it's not that loud so it seems like it's an actual baffle but it doesn't look like one :P

Try the engine without it, is it any louder? If yes then it's a baffle.

Is it narrower than the normal exhaust outlet? The baffle on my Two Bros is just a slight cone.

Yeah, from the outside it looks like a standard baffle but when i took it out it was literally just a pipe. I was going to take pictures but i got caught up in cleaning haha I'll probably take it back out and photograph it in the next couple of days

It won't let me upload the other photo to show the lack of holes along the pipe for some reason but you get the idea :P

Looks like a baffle to me. I guess it causes the gases to stay in the pipe for longer therefore bringing the noise down.

Yes that's a baffle, my Scorpion exhaust baffle is exactly the same. It just changes the pitch of the exhaust to the human ears being louder.

Ok, I was just curious because it just seemed a bit strange to me.
Once the bike's up and running again I'll run it with and without to see what the difference is
