Evening all.
This is all on a SK3 with cheap aftermarket indicators, not LED. I'm normally OK with electrical gremlins, but this makes no sense to me! I need to put the track bike back on the road for a few weeks so I've put all the lights back on. Fitted one thing at a time and checked operation to try and isolate any problems as I was going, so the problem waited until right at the end... Fitted rear lights/indicators and all worked OK. Then fitted front lights all OK, front left indicator OK, front right indicator and nothing, no fast flashing and also now no left indicator either despite it working 2 minutes earlier. Everything else working fine. Checked all fuses and connection and got both left indicators working, but when switching to right get a short flash on the right indicator dash light with a quick dimming of the headlight then nothing. If I try the left straight away I get nothing, but if I wait a few seconds it works again. If I disconnect one rear (either side) everything works as expected, fast flash on side where rear is disconnected, but reconnect both and back to the same problem. I've tried a different flasher unit with the same result. So individually all 4 indicators and the switches work and it doesn't seem to be the flasher unit, but with all 4 connected the right doesn't work. Any ideas of what to try next? I've run out of ideas. Thanks. |

Check the wattage of the bulbs - the flasher unit is designed to work with a certain combination of wattages and hence current.
I think they're supposed to be 21W each. |

Thanks millemille, but I've sorted it now. Turns out I had the live and earth crossed over on one of the rears, this wouldn't normally matter but on mine the earths are connected via a metal tail tidy and therefore shorted. This also explains why the problem was only there with all indicators connected, as with the fronts disconnected or one rear disconnected there was nothing to short out.
