Default Cat & Fiddle strikes again

Coming back over the Cat this afternoon, on the pull up from Buxton there was an ambulance & police car attending a crash involving an Aprilia Mille and a Yaris ... it was on a particularly sharp, blind left-hander which is SO easy to get wrong if you don't know it. From the impact on the Yaris, it looked like the Mille rider had overcooked it, crossed the white lines and gone into the car.

I must have seen half a dozen broken bikes at that corner over the years. Hope all parties are OK, it certainly put a crimp on a lovely sunny afternoon for them

I remember riding over that road some years back, about the only time I have ridden it. It was heaving with cars, coaches and caravans and I recall noting just how many absolute t055ers on two wheels there were. A group of them nearly took me out when they attempted to overtake the coach I was stuck behind in the face of oncoming traffic.

Accidents happen, mistakes are made, and I hope nobody was seriously injured. However, there is a time and a place for knee down heroics and the Cat and Fiddle is not the place.

True - usually it's not worth it of a Sunday because of this

I've been over C&F twice, once in a car, once on a bike.

Both times all I have seen is the back of a lorry I've been unable to overtake.

Really don't see what all the fuss is about.

I live just off the Macc side of the C&F. It's not a bad road but there's definitely better.
The avg speed cameras don't help, I'd rather riders were concentrating 100% on what is a technical road rather then the speedo.
