Default Selling up in the least painful way

Due to my health I think I'm fast approaching the point where I'll have to sell up, with the least hassle to my family (i.e. no tyre kickers, hagglers etc).

My bike's a 2017 Gen 3, in very good standard condition apart from a lovely Yoshimura TRS can. The issue is, it's done more than 70,000 miles, which makes it as saleable as a dog turd. I've tried all the 'We Buy Any Bike' sites and .... none will touch it as 70K miles seems to imply it's about to fall apart like a Keystone Cops car. I understand where they're coming from, but the bike has many, many good years left in it.

I could put it on FB Marketplace and see what happens, but I really do not want scrotes by the dozen coming round making derisory offers and demanding test rides they can't have.

The only thing I can think of is contacting local bike breakers, and getting rid that way.

Does anyone have any suggestions / experiences of getting shot of a decent bike quickly?

Sorry to hear this Craig. 70k does sound scary for some buyers but as we know with Garry's bike it'll easily do much more. It's wrong to only consider mileage as an indicator without considering how well the bike has been looked after and serviced. I'm not sure where to advertise to get the best deal, maybe someone on here might be interested?

Ah Craig, I'm so sorry to hear this. I can't begin to imagine how much of a wrench this must be for you.

I know it's mainstream advertising but MCN ads may be worth a look.

I'm sorry to hear this too Craig. As Gary says a mainstream sales site may be better than FB but it's hit and miss. I sold two bikes through Biketrader many years ago and they both went OK if that helps.

Tough decision to make.

Honestly, I'd say here is the best place to advertise it if the sale isn't too urgent. You are more likely to only get serious offers.
Put up good pictures, be honest about its condition and realistic with the price. The faster you want it gone, the less £ you ask for.

Sorry to hear that its time to part with your Suzy! I still have mine which I am hanging onto hoping I can regain my licence. (Did ride it yesterday around the drive) I did have a word with my local bike shop (old school) He will put a bike in his shop window and for a percentage will sell it on the owners behalf. Trouble is such shops are getting few and far between. Best of luck Craig

Sad to hear your selling the bike. How about an add in the local bike training place or cafés that bikers hang out. If its cheap enough someone will buy it.

Sorry to hear that Craig, but as all say, very best wishes for the future.

I've just lost my Mum who was 95 so we had much more of a celebration of her life than any sort of commiseration, but the whole thing makes one realise how brief a time we are here and we have to make the best of things. Yours is a difficult decision I'm sure but you can move on to good things.

Good luck with the sale. A few of my bikes are old now and while excellent they really have little value, there are just so many newer bikes on the market at relatively low prices considering what you get. That's progress I suppose.
