Default Still got your Hamicad FE installed?

So how many people are still riding around with the Hamicad FE on their bikes despite the email and letter.

Not asking for people to say "Yes" or "No" in a reply, do it anonymously with the vote, but please keep the poll it bumped.

And I aint voting until a few others have.

I do, because I've only had it a short while. I've requested the replacement so that should be with me soon, at which point Ill swap it over straight away. I didnt want to rebuild the bike twice

I stripped mine off on Sunday, I've left everything off of my bike so I can bolt the new one straight on when it comes

I just hope it comes quickly, other wise I might be looking for compo for not being able to use my bike

I don't like the idea of signing a disclaimer stating 'If I leave the eliminator on my bike & it does snap, causing you to fall off, then we're not in any way liable'...

Anyway, the sooner Hamicad recieves my old FE, the sooner I'll get my new one, so, I'm off to the post office to post it straight away

Mines only been on a few weeks so its staying on until the replacement arrives.

Gotta say though, I think its damn good of Hamicad to send out new modified eliminators and THEN get the old ones back. Not a lot of companies would do that. Good stuff

Totaly agree, it would have been easier and probably cheaper to tell folk "don't use them, and we'll refund you when you send the old one back".

A good bit of P.R. in a dificult sittuaton.

Absolutely, they've dealt with the situation brilliantly - good customer feedback, can't fault them... Just hope my new eliminator arrives sooner rather than later so I can get the back end of my bike put back together so I can ride it again

I took mine off on Friday. I put the original back on. I nearly cried when I saw the results. But Safety is Safety. It had been on since early April. I could see hairline cracks coming from either side of the piece. So I am glad I took the time to take it off.
I have post the part back and have asked for a replacement.

I removed my last Sunday.

Its done around 11,000 miles, I cleaned it up, and could see no rust or cracks at all. there was a few places where rubbing had removed the powder coating but nothing more. However I decided it wasnt worth re-fitting..lets say the worst happened and yours did break and jam the back wheel....

1) you (and/or others) could be seriously injured,
2) Hamicad have already warned you about it, so no comeback there,
3) In theory it is now considered a dangerous modification and your insurance company may not pay up (if they find out)

So why take the risk? Andy's promised to refund or replace it (with a new and safer design)

Other than 1 hour to replace with the shovel, and another hour to fit the new replacement, I dont see any downside to removing it.

Well I was prepared to hang out until i got the new one BUT

I was working on the bike today (gixxer 1000 shock conversion) so i had to strip down the rear.

Now i have checked everytime before riding the hamicad, however obviously my check of wabbling it a tad was insufficient as here below is a picture or 2 of the hairline cracks forming so i have gone back to the snowshovel for the meantime.

So all i will add is the following mine was fitted in end of march start of april this year and has about 2,500 miles on it.

Be aware peeps
.
