Default Hit by the uninsured. I'm now on the scrounge for SV bits!

So I was on my way home. Stationary at a set of lights. Then I heard the screech of tyres behind me.

Then wallop!

The bike is thrown from underneath me and I bounce on the tarmac with my left hip.

The guy gets out of his ****heap Astra. "Sorry mate....etc.."

Me: "I hope you're insured mate"

Him: "Yeah"

I'm hurting so I dial 999 and get ambulance and police running.

Me: "Who you insured with mate?"

Him: "Actually, I'm not"

Me: "Give me your keys"

So he hands them over and the busys arrive. I tell them what he told me and they lift my SV out of the road and put him in their car.

Damage aint that bad. All damage to right hand side.

Broken brake lever.
Scratched bar end.
Top fairing scratched.
Lower fairing scratched.
Fairing support scratched (not sure what it's called but its the black bit between the upper and lower fairing).
Indicator broken - I can probably get this for a fiver.
Wing mirror scratched.

I was hit hard at about 10mph in the rear wheel so I'm not sure if there is gonna be any damage in that department or even the subframe.....

Me bloody hip hurts though. I think I'm guaranteed a nice bruise in the morning.

I'm probably gonna get the repairs done myself as my excess is £200.

Anyone got any of the bits mentioned above for a 2002 SV650S K2?

yowch i hope they throw the book at him. Surprised he didn't try to run off tho. I always thought someone was personally liable if they weren't insured, in addition to the penalty for driving with no insurance. Could be wrong.

Sorry can't help with parts, and hope your bruise heals quick.

I would if I could, etc.

When the police turned up, they recognised him as a local slag. He doesnt have a pot to **** in or a window to throw it out of.

If I made a civil claim, I'd get £2 a week for the next 3 years.

The biggest thing I'm ****ed off about is the fact that the ****er was not insured in the first place.

Hes got a car which he'll never be able to afford to insure. Force him to sell it to pay you

He'd be in deep if he ran , leaving the scene of an rta is considerably worse than no insurance.

i'd definatly take him to court anyway , you wont have to pay costs and its him that will be put out by it... otherwise he'll jsut do it again.

Oh he's going to court alright. I've just finished my statement and I'm off to the local nick to hand it in and produce my licence and INSURANCE!

He's probably get 6pts and a £100 fine tops.

doesnt driving without insurance get u a ban? 6 points doesnt seem strong enough to me. so going 85 on a motorway twice is as bad as driving without insurance?

the worlds gone mad, and im going with it i think.
