Default Meta 357

Help, I am not sure whether this is the problem.

I have just returned from the GP and called for a pint (s) :P

After leaving the pub I walked to the bike flipped the keyfob and nothing happened, I tried the starter, I tried the kill switch, I tried the sidestand, I even tried the gear selector.

Nothing clicks, dims, or shorts out. but it is still very dead.

The key fob is giving a good signal according to the technology the AA carry.

The led is flashing as though the bike is alarmed, the alarm doent go off when I move the bike or try to start it.

Im fairly certain it is water related as I rode through more water than Vale today

So now what do I do?

Oh dear.......

Try your inline blade fuse first up. Also the alarm can slip into sleep mode, so try switching the ignition on, and then trying to disarm the alarm.

If this fails I'm out of suggestions.

I left my SV outside of the workshop (was painting my no. plate bracket), and the seat unit was off. It rained quite hard, and my bike no longer worked.

Luckily the pin-outs on all meta 357 alarms are the same, so I got hold of a secondhand meta 357, plugged it in, and voila, bike ran again.

I have sussed it out, all that fuss over nothing

I got all geared up this morning loading tools, clothing and all the bike documents and workshop manuals into my car. I drove to the pub where my bike had expired and tried the fob again. Voila it flashed and blinked like a good un

All I had done was left the key in the kitchen where it must have dried out. Its ok now, although the AA did test the key fob and the frequency was very strong

So I then had my bike and car at the pub, both in working order. I rode the bike home and walked back to get my car.

Just a warning to anyone, keep the alarm fob in a dry pocket or plastic bag

My Meta did this last year on the way home from Donnington.. Filled it up with gas on the A50 on the way home, pouring rain etc - auto immobilesed itself and I couldn't disarm.
Lots of hunting and finally giving up trying to find batteries etc - was about to call AA and bike responses to fob..

Me thinks it's design fault!

My keyfob was wet also, but drying, and new batteries didn't fix the problem. Also tried to dry the alarm unit, but its all sealed. Hence the new (secondhand) alarm unit.

All better now.

You would think meta would design their keyfobs to be waterproof, seeing as they are fitted to motorcycles after all.

I think I might vaseline the inside of my keyfob to watty-proof it to a degree.

You can turn the alarm off Matt but the immobiliser is self arming, thats the bit what stops you getting home

Now I know what the problem is it wont happen again
