Bought my SV650S second hand from Farnborough Infinity, and didn't get a servicing book with it. First question - What's the servicing interval on the bike? 4k or 4.5k miles?
Exporting the bike to Germany, which means headlight alignment will need altering. does the European spec bike come witha different headlight unit with dip for the otherside of the road? If, so, who could flog me one? (taking it to Germany for no more than 2 or so years) Which Chain lube is best? I've used Hein Gericke's which tends to look like i've sprayed the chain silver! It seems to resist flinging muck all over the place; either that or I don't put enough on. Is there anything better? How the hell do I move the radiator to squirt some waterproof hi temp grease around the spark plug entrance? Which bit of the fairing do I have to remove and how easy is the whole process. Either that, or is a fender extender easier? Scorpion can - It came with one fitted, (noisy bugger with the baffle out) but is it "stamped" for road use? It has some engraved numbers on it, but no obvious "this is a road legal can" writing on it - what should I be looking for to identify it as road legal? Tyres - Mez 6 - Does anyone know where to get these things around Aldershot/Camberley/Farnborough way? Edit to add: 2001 SV K1? or k2? V5 says K2 but I'm not sure I believe it. First Registered Nov 01 on a 51 Plate. Thanks for your time in advance ![]() Hoodlum. |

Service intervals are 4000, 7500, 11000, 15000.
Don't know about the headlight. Regular lubing is more important than the lube you use. Find one you like and stick to it, or get a Scottoiler/Lubeman. Remove both side fairngs and horn. Remove the bottom mounting bolt and loosen the bolts at the top. You can the pivot the rad forward and tie it up out of the way. Not difficult at all. To be road legal, it should have an E mark on it. Basically if it doesn't say Not For Road Use or Race Use Only it should be OK. That's not to say it would pass an MOT though. Road legal aftermarket exhausts can still be too loud to pass an MOT. Baffle out usually means illegal. Try getting the tyres mail order from places like mandp.co.uk or fwr.co.uk. |

Edit to add: 2001 SV K1? or k2? V5 says K2 but I'm not sure I believe it. First Registered Nov 01 on a 51 Plate. K2 bike would have been available form around November. Mines a december 2000 bike but is a K1. Its all to do with chassis numbers etc. HTH |

Do you have adjustable front preload? If so, it's a K2.

I think I've got the EU headlights somewhere that came off mine?
Let me know if you're interested. Cheers Mark.

have you tried Roadwheel at Fleet ? 01252 617788 they normally have a good selection of bike tyres - don't know about the Mez tyres tho. I also have a set of European lights off an SK1 - I'm in farnborough. they'll be going to the tip otherwise. |

Blimey guys - thanks very much for the responses. rather than scoffing eggs this easter, I'll get the grease around the front plug instead!
Yes, it has adjustable pre-load at the front, if you mean (forgive the oh, so untechnical description about to issue forth) the windy round things that have a graded sticky out bit coming through the top of the forks..... Very much interested in the set of lights, and as you're very close SteveR, let me know what a fair price for them is (or the beer you drink?) provided of course, they'll fit a K2..... Been running around like a **** trying to get hold of the little orange PIN card for the Meta alarm - what a drama. Mind you, i'm a nugget for not having checked the docs it was there in the first place when I collected it. It transpires the previous owner has it somewhere in his house. Second bit of detective work has revealed (thankfully) that the bike was serviced at about 4k miles. And again, thanks for your informed answers - what a great site this is ![]() |

you can have them for nought - they'd just be dumped otherwise. They should fit a K2. I'll send a PM regarding contact details |
