Default Oil Leak

Noticed some oil on the drive this evening. Checked bike that has been in garage since a ride on sunday and there was one oil spot.

Underneath left side of clutch basket the engine is oily and the oil had collected and had dripped from the lowest point. not really clear where it was coming from!

Checked sight glass and its full of oil, OVER the maximum if anything.

Bike was very hot when i stopped over the weekend.

Someone please tell me that the oil has just expanded and come out of some overflow somewhere!!!

Going in for first service on friday.

cleaned it up a bit. seems to come from behind the plastic cover by the gear selector.

Near the front sprocket ?

Mine does this when I have the scotoiler is turned up to high. Could be chain lube ?

I might of course be talking rubbish.

Warm weather.

Chain lube.

haven't lubed chain yet so can't be that.

Will monitor situation, mention at service on friday and put put it down to high oil level in sight glass (when cold) and the extremely hot weekend.

Is there an overflow down there? Or does it just leak out of the front sprocket drive shaftsomewhere when really hot?? (temp display was high 90's when stopped. 80's when moving)

EDIT: Thanks for the advice chaps!!! much appreciated!

The clutch is on the right side of the motor, there's no oil overflow - if the oil level is too high a bit of smoke might be apparent, but it would need to be very high - are you absolutely sure it's not chain lube? If your first service is yet to be done then the lube that was used when the bike was prepped will still be apparent, as it's recently got rather warmer I'm still thinking this is the most likely explanation.

the chain feels greasy but not wet with oil.

this was runny oil, like engine oil. left a few spots on the drive and then one in the garage.

could it be oil within the links that flows when really hot then?, and comes out of the chain where it goes round the front sprocket??

its on the left side of the engine (so not the clutch basket then )

not above the plastic cover on front sprocket / behind gear selector so i ruled out airbox breather (but didnt expect much oil in that on a new engine)

i had an oil leak that similar, that dropped a small spot every time i parked.
i had 2 guesses -
over-oilling scottoiler
oil breather pipe end leaking

i turned my scottoiler down and it 'seemed' to go away, however i recently started noticing it again.... so it could be a mixture of a leaky oil breather pipe on top of the crankcase and hot weather.

it looks like a right pain to change the breather pipe, im much happier dropping a tad of oil in every now and then.

I don't think Glade has a Sctty so it must be coming from elsewhere.I'd mention it to the dealer at the service and put the ball in their court. It could be a leaking seal on the output shaft in which case it will be a warranty issue.
