p/x values and is it worth private sale on 12 mth old SV?

I am now seriously looking to move on up from my 2009 SV S however unlike cars where there is plenty of info on s/h values etc. I am struggling to know 2 things, a/ is the value I will be offered in the dealer a sensible one and b/ should I try a private sale first?

The reason for asking is that biketrader seems to suggest a 2009 (irrespective of milage etc.) should be around £3800-£4000 although there are only dealer ones on there.

Mine has just over 2k mileage and is mint (no mods) so should be easily resellable and my thinking was as a p/ex on a 8-9k new one should be in the range of £3500 but really after some advice from folks that may have been in the same situation or could offer advice on private vs. p/ex (I should add this was on the 0% deal last yr so I also have the added fun of clearing the finance off before selling if I go privately.)

Should have thought about just ringing a dealer to get a benchmark!!!! Seems £3200 is the 1st offer on the table although interestingly I just used a '10 plate gsxr750 as a possible trade in and there was £600 off the retail bringing it down to £8500 so the numbers come in around what I was hoping for.

Still interested if anyone thinks there could be a better option on seling/buying though?

Cheers I had seen that one, only shows the nakes SV and only up to 58 plate so I knew it would be a little more than those but no more info than that!
