Default Sprocket cover bolts (pointy)

How hard should these be tightened? When I undid them they almost fell off in my hand, and when I put them on again I could tighten and tighten but was afraid that something might snap. Should they be very hard or just moderate?

First time I took the cover off. Dear God, the crap in there!!! I new place to clean it would seem!

Oh good god no mate, it'd take FOREVER to clean in there. My sv had done 40k when I bought it and hadn't been cleaned in that area. Took me a few hours and it's still bogging. Bike was a few kg lighter, I tell you!

Re: bolts - Moderate, certainly dont apply too much pressure. It's kind of hard to say though, the more maintenance you do yourself, the easier it all becomes (you just 'know')

To give you an ‘amount’ like that would be too subjective. I take it you don’t have a torque wrench???

The bolts don’t need much as they are small and in alli, when I tighten bolts like that, I hold the ratchet with the middle bit in the palm of my hand then just use my small finger (and the one next to it) on the leaver bit of the ratchet, this limits the amount of force I can apply do mine up, that all you need and you don’t even want to go that mad with that amount.

This might be the greatest numpty question in the history of numpty questions, but what did you use to get the socket cover off?

There's nothing in my standard pointy toolkit that will fit those bolts. I think they're about 8mm and the smallest socket in the Suzuki kit is 10mm, I think. A standard 8mm socket can't get in there.

Am I missing something from the toolkit or am I just fundamentally stupid?
