Default Caberg V2 lids dangerous?

I was just in Hein Gericke this lunchtime (not looking at helmets, as it happens) and one of the assistants spotted my lid. He asked if that was one of the ones with the flip down inner visor. I answered yes and showed him the flip down inner visor. He said that they were dangerous and that a paramedic had been in last week to mention that in a crash the inner visor had come down and severed the riders nose in an accident. He said there had been 3 or 4 incidences of this happening. He advised I consider buying a new lid.

I was in a rush and didn't think/have time to check if they were still selling them themselves. Just checked the Caberg site and no mention of it. I find it hard to believe if it was a real problem that there wouldn't have been a recall/I'd not of heard something about it, but the staff there have always been very good and it'd be out of character for them to try and use scare tactics like this to sell me a new lid.

Anyone know any more about this?

I bought my second caberg yesterday, both have a flip down inner visor. TBH if you have a smash a cut nose will probably be least of the injuries.
I hope nobody does come off but can you see what i mean

This is my thinking, I'm sure in a really nasty crash all sorts of things could get stuck into your face/head anyway. Likewise I'm of the mentality that unless it's a big risk, it's not a problem; if you're worried about every time 0.5% thing, you should probably be in an armoured 4x4, rather than on a bike.

I recognise that helmet testing for impact isn't likely to of uncovered this problem though.

I thought the visors were only the size of the helmet opening anyway You'd have to have a nose like Pinocchio to sever it off (even then it may be a good thing)

I bow before SoulKiss for this, but for those that are concerned about every little thing, you might be interested in this

Full exo-skeleton armour, tested to be bullet proof, and you can at least drive a car.

The risk of being sun blinded I think is greater than the risk of a cut nose. Ask the same paramedic how many bikers have died or are brain damaged because no-one knew how to remove a helmet to offer mouth to mouth. I'm sure he won't be advising no helmet to reduce this risk.

Well Jo's (Mrs Fud) dad came off his Magni on the way to the annual rideout in 2004. His face was badly cut by his shades. So I guess that there is no simple solution. shades/glasses are known to be dangerous when worn under a helmet. So what the heck, stick with the inner visor.
