I recently won an exhaust system on ebay.
Postage was marked at 20 pounds. So, you can immagine my supprise when I opened the door this morning to see 250quids worth of exhaust system sitting on the doorstep not even being signed for. ![]() ![]() Now, a less scruplious person than myself could now report this item as not being delivered, as they dont have proof of delivery. Why would you post something so valuable and not even require a signature? And the postage was only 10.90. Thieveing gits. Dan |

Hmmm, this does sound a bit didgy on behalf of both the seller and the postie.
Was it sent Recorded or Special Delivery? If it was and was just left then the postie is at fault. As for the £20 charge - hmmm. it is for postage and packing, but I perhaps doubt that it was wrapped in nearly a tenners worth of cardboard and bubblewrap! (Though if sent Special Delivery that would soak up about £3.50 - Recorded is only 68p mind you.) It does sound like someone is trying to recoup their eBay fees and then some. You could take a photo of the packaging and email it, with the reference number of the listing, to eBay themselves. They are currently inthe process of clamping down on unfair postage charges and so would probably look into this. I don't know if it will gain you any refund (probably not) but if it results in making eBay a better marketplace they t'is all good. Personally I weigh everything and calculate the costs from the Post Offices own website... but yes, I do include enough to cover the cost of packaging materials - partly because I'm a business, but mostly because I don't re-use old bubble-envelopes, I buy everything in new and make sure it's well packed. |

It was just send 1st or 2nd class, not recorded or special.

exactly! IMO when i charege postage it accounts for the fact that i have the package it, drive to the post office and queue then get home(30 mins minimum) plus diesel and a small parking charge of a £1. so on top of postage costs the rest can be quite happily justified to be a tenner. |

If it takes more than 20 minutes, you're wasting time.
Back pod off, cut directly across the back fender about 5" inside the rear subframe back cross member, two springs, two bolts, refit indicaters to pipe mounts, rear pod refit, job done (Oh you are allow to stand and just look at it for 15 minutes or so ![]() Cheers Mark.
