Should UK adopt the Euro?

We're in the EU, wouldn't a single monetary policy make sense?

NO

yes and no, but more towards the no side right now. medium term we will go in, although think what inflation would be like right now if we had eurozone interest rates.

would be a good idea eventually because -

• no need to change currency when going to europe
• firms would lessen their forex risk if operating in europe and uk
• the euro's status would be boosted by the inclusion of uk
• oil will be denominated in euros soon (well not if the US has anything to do with it!)
• it would bring us closer to our european cousins

will always be a bad idea because -

• the euro central bank would be in control. it needs to be reformed before i would trust it with our monetary policy decisions
• one interest rate cannot fit the entire EU unless all EU country's economies are in synch
• financial decisions would be taken in the EU's favour rather than our favour
• it would bring us closer to our european cousins

lets just get out of the EU full stop. 6 billion pounds?! **** off, thats ridiculous!

no because the cost of living will nearly double, this has already happened in other european countries. In some places like spain it happened within a week.

A nation only controls it's destiny by retaining control of it's finances.Unless you are in favour of a "United States Of Europe"you should retain control of your currency.
The EU at the moment is totally dominated by vested interests and is fundamentally undemocratic.Britain is not THAT much better,but it is better,and we stand more chance of controlling the vested interests locally than across Europe.

NO, europe has poked its nose into the UK too far already . We should get out of europe and/or take control of it
