I am just about to fork out for the above helmet. Has any of you guys have one? If so how noisy it is? Or is there any reasons why I shouldn't buy it?

I have one, Prior to having it i have only ever riden with Nitro and other cheaply branded helmets, i must say it is pretty fecking noisy and its made me consider ear plugs. At certain angles the vent whistle aswell which is annoying, i thought it was the bike at first until i figured it out.
Apart from that its damn comfortable etc and i would recommend it.

had mine for 2 years now, for my everday riding which is mainly in city its perfecty fine, if i hit dual carridgeway its noisy as feck, i have to sit behind a lorry if i dont have earplugs otherwise its just to loud for me,
i paid 240 for mine at the bikehshow 2 years ago, last time i checked they were still 330 in shops so spend wisely |

I picked up mine last week.. Had a AGV before and was sort of happy. This is a bit better in regards to nosie, much lighter, and the vents really do make for a cooler head [pushing 28 degs here] I did go from a large to a med so this may all so be a lot to do with it.

I always used to use Arai helmets but after trying the XR1000 the fit was much better for my odd head, I'm now on my second one and love it. I do now use ear plugs though but only after 'using' the gixer in a spirited fashion.
Plus points, very comfortable for all day riding, all of the vents really work and are not just for show, the slight visor open lever is fantastic for getting that extra draft in the heat as is the lock down. The visor has never opened when looking behind at speed. Pinlock really works well. The finish is very good. Minus points, It might be a tad noisy but TBH it's probably advisable to use ear plugs with any lid at speed (Schuberth excepted). The complete lining is not removable but is easy enough to keep clean. Pinlock bead can impede view when riding prone (looking behind the bubble). I'd put it close equal with Arai versions at similar prices. You'd be OK with either but in my view the weight, fit and ventilation would sway in favour of the Shoei. |

well, mine old one was really noisy so I wanted something quieter and more comfier. Tried various helmets in shops and XR1000 just fit great. I alway wear earplugs anyway so we will see. I ride all year around and wanted something comfy and with pinlock so it does not mist. Cheers all.

Originally had a Shoei Raid II - nice but used to get horrendous wind-buffetting when doing a right-shoulder check at 60+mph down M-way, so decided to go for the XR-1000 (after a fall) because I'd read somewhere that the hydrofoil strip across the back of the lid helps to stabilise the riders head at high speeds. Didn't think it would make such a BIG difference but it DOES!
