Did you check to see if the engine was cold before he started it?

Only thing i can think of was i had to much choke and the engine got a little flooded. Don't know if you've tried but it worked for me. oh and mine's a black curvy too.
It'd just been in a van for 2 or 3 hours so must have been cold

Have you got a steep hill? - you could try bump starting it.

Failing that, have you got a cliff? - you could push it over, well it is Curvy afterall

Is the vacuum opening the fuel tap under the tank? Has the kill switch/ignition etc been exposed to damp/wet? It sounds like a fuel problem though.

Major problem I had with mine, twice, was that there was water in the fuel. I drained the tank into a bucket (water is heavier than petrol). Then drain both of the carbs. Put in fresh fuel & it may start. It is just a thought & could be worth checking out.

I'd go with Mr C's advice. The other things required to get a bike to start seem to be fine (battery, spark plugs etc.)

Sounds like a big waste of fuel - you only need to drain the carbs.

Where in Manchester? If you are on the Warrington side I may be able to have a quick look with you, I don't know huge amounts but I have a curvy?

Also, check the choke is opening and closing as it should do.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted!

Will a Curvy still crank over on the starter if the kill switch is faulty or in the off position?
