HW is not the nicest of places but by far not the worst. Plenty of much nicer towns around it that i'd prefer to live in but I guess it's down to money. The little towns are EXPENSIVE! My sis lives in Chalfont (about 15 mins away) and her semi just got valued at 650k! You'll find places a lot cheaper in HW tho.. It's dead easy to get anywhere as you're on the M40 and the M4 is just down the A404.. Big new shopping centre too, as I see you like to shop!

Oh, and be nice to see another TVSF'er!

Welcome Shell, hope to see you at our TVSF meets in the future! Ft_brstd lives there, and I'm sure two other people from here (sandman possibly?). As other said, little surrounding villages are LOVELY but expensive, HW is fine and cheaper. Nice area round here to live, good access to a lot of places. Could do withmore mountains to climb for me personally.

Live in Oxford, that is the nicest place

Hi Shelly
Welcome to the dark side
High wycombe as mentioned before is not the best place in the world
I live in a village about 3 miles away called Downley. Not too bad as long as you don't go near the shops at night (Roaming kids syndrome) but that is true for every where around here.
Wycombe is good for shopping and for communiting to London hence the high property prices.
My friend is just about to sell his 2 bed flat by the train station for £185k
still way high
If you need to know anything else let me know
Jerry

£185k for a 2 bed flat ..... ohhhhh. Maybe it's cheap here in Stafford

just avoid tesco's after about 10ish and you will be fine
There are really nice bits of downley as well
plenty of places to go for walks and a few good pubs
loads of places to have a bimble on the bike though.
I am out on a ride tomorrow but if you need any info let me know
