He is awesome, he is the only person that saw what Metallica were becoming and thought "screw this, I am not turning into a band that needs rehab". Plus people idolise Cliff just because he died. ...And Justice For All is still an ace album despite the production. In fact, the guitar production I really like. It just has no balls.

It's pretty hard to be a bass player in a band where the main rhythm guitarist has his amp controls taped to low +10, mid -10, hi +10 and plays at least a half-step lower than usual. James Hetfield himself recognised he was moving into bass territory more often than not, and that wasn't helping the overall sound, so in a bid to try and sort this out he removed the tape from the "mid" control.

For me, metallica where the best with newstead. He was the link between the rock gods and the fans, since he was a metallica fan himself. He shouldnt have been given all that crap by the other guys, but stuff happens when you loose a freind and have to take a replacment, theres resentment and stuff.

What's odd is that some of Saint Anger sounds brilliant in the studio in the Some Kind of Monster shoots... He must have actuvely thought "That's ace! I know... I shall **** this up completely!"

The "live" version on the album was not too shabby either.

Forget Metallica, the really big news for metal fans is this.

Yes, the band that's one louder than the rest has reformed for Live Earth. Watch the 15 minute video to find out what they've been up to.
