I like the raw of the ZX6s of similar era (real nasty/aggressive sound),…[/quote]

Trust me they still have it

I find them pretty boring, and I ride an SV and don't much want anything else Though it's certainly true I'm not a great rider. The reason I'd still recommend a CBR despite finding them boring is that the reason they're boring is they do everything so well- they don't realy entertain you, you have to entertain yourself. I'd still choose an ally framed CBR600F over a steel frame though.

I think bikes tend to be defined by their flaws, what seems to make a great bike for most people is for it to have enough characterful flaws to make it interesting but still be good enough to not suck. IE, what does everyone say about the 04 636? Headbanger bike, not for the faint hearted, real man's sports bike. Why do they say that? Because the rear shock is broken. Fix that and suddenly the bike goes over bumps on the power without slapping, and the bike is no longer interesting, it's just another 600cc sportsbike which handles. What makes me keep the SV? The puny engine. If I went out to the garage today and found it had developed an extra 50bhp, it'd be on Ebay by tea time.

Case in point, why do you think I sold the Mille? Its an SV with more power power and good suspension ...

Yup. And not just because a 130bhp SV is going to net some serious cash After I got back on the bike after I did my leg in, I'd been giving a lot of thought to other bikes, and most were an option... I went out and testrode about 15 others over the course of a couple of months, the only two that I'd have chosen over the SV was an RVF400, and a Duke 2, both making less power. The R1150s was the other contender... But it wouldn't fit through the garage door
