Hang on a bit though, you don't want it like that, you want the relay coil (86 + 85) in parallel with the stock horn, not in series.

If you do it as in diagram you may have reliability issues (voltage drop) and stock horn won't make much if any noise as relay coil will limit current.

thanks for the reply guys. As you can most definitely tell, I'm a complete beginner.

Can someone tell me how I would fit in the new horn without connecting it to the stock horn? An annotated diagram would be helpful and I would be highly grateful!

Imagine that diagram without the stock horn in it, exactly like that.

Literally, 2 wires that go to horn now want to go to coil of relay. You could also put -ve on horn back to -ve on battery.

When you look at relay there is usually a little diagram on there to find which pins are what, usually coil is shown as a block, 2 switched wires are shown as an electrical switch symbol.

Hopefully that helps, relay we need does not have 87a terminal, that position is just "off". But when magnet energises it makes contact between 30 and 87, which allows power to horn.

Oh gosh, thanks for your help - much appreciated. I must admit that was all very hard to stomach!!

for the stock wiring, I see a blue wire and a black wire, which one is positive? the blue one I'm guessing?

I've connected everything for both horns as the diagram shows, when I press the horn I hear a clicking noise

also, bike was not running when I pressed the ignition, I disconnected everything and now it runs again...

Not really sure what I'm doing wrong!

edit: clicking noise seems to be coming from the relay.

sorry for spamming this thread, but I have an update on my not so progressive progress.

I've managed to sort out the issue of the clicking relay, it seems that I hadn't properly connected the horn to a ground (-ve) point on the bike... or frame.

So that's now good... BUT the horn is still not working, instead - when I press the button for the horn, I can see/feel and hear the horn spinning or compressing a lot of air or something, just sounds like a fan spinning very fast.

I think it's faulty? I've done every possible thing and I tried both circuits with and without the stock horn and still I get the same result...

without reading pages of this thread and possibly repeating anything..
Is the air horn good - have you tried it straight across the battery? Is it polarised, i.e. has a marked + and - connection, and you have it the right way round? Is your battery in good shape?

haven't tried it straight across the battery although I did think about doing that? should I simply connect + to + and - to -?

Yes the horn has + and - markings and yes the battery is fine too.
