Cooked bacon fat and a couple of suet balls on the bird table and loaded the suet ball feeder. Peanut feeder seems to last for ages.

Unfortunately I cannot use a table as it attracts rats (and tree rats) who scoff the lot. Have to use sqiggle-proof feeders which means only some birds can get to them, although plenty others sit underneath picking up the bits that fall.

Watching a male blackbird eating apple today, my wife spots two mice enjoying the seed knocked off the bird table. First time we've noticed this. So in the garage I just poison them, what's the best method for outside. We have a dog and sometimes children so am drawn to a traditional mouse trap and cheese.

Why kill 'em if they're outside?

Foodchain relies on 'em.

Use a trap/cheese but put something over it, an upturned hanging basket works. Keeps larger critters out but lets mice in.

My better half is scared of them or I'd let them lash on. I put bait out in the garage because of the damage and the stink of urine etc.

Strangely enough, mice are very attracted to soap or chocolate.
But as someone else said, why do you want to trap them?

That's a bit mean, killing an innocent creature in their own natural habitat just because of an irrational phobia.

If they are chewing through your stuff in the house/garage then fair enough but killing them outside is just cruel.

Your right to a great extent, however my beloved cannot help it and therefore cannot relax in the garden in fact she probably will not go outside until I've got at least a couple.

Humane trap and relocate them. I found the best bait was Fortnum and Mason champagne truffles.
