Thanks for the link, booked for Kendal, south cumbria 28/04. Couldn`t find Lancashire Const. so assume they dont do the scheme. Do theses courses also lower insurance premiums at renewal time?

Yes Lancs refuse to do biksesafe

When I asked why I got.

We are police officers not instructors
We tell you do do something and you come off. Who you going to sue. We have no insurance to cover instructing the public.

Very negative, they tell you to go to the council run course. Personally I think Lancs county council have no business running a commercial training operation and with this in place they no doubt encourage lancs plod not to do anything "competative"

Staffs is free I think Col, I'm thinking of going one in Stoke in either April or June?

I'd probably do April.

Can you get discount at insurers for it? Gonna be a bugger if so, cos I'm taking out a new policy about then!

Dont think many insurers give discounts though - Carole Nash didn't with IAM

I'm going on a course this year. My Dad went on one last year (he's been riding for 3 decades or so) and said that it was a good insight, and also learned new techniques.
I think it's a good thing to do every few years or so, simply to get your riding looked at (we all become complacement) and to learn something new.

I did Cheshire last year -- 2 evening sessions based on Roadcraft @ Winsford HQ plus an assessed ride of about an hour and three quarters, enjoyed it and learnt a lot and the assessed rides dont hang about ! Not sure its really worth 80 quid but then again, what price your safety ?

Did Fife constabulary one last year. Definately say they are worth while. Even if you just take away one thing that might save your skin.. £80 seems quite expensive though...fife was free when I did it.
