You are right about them all being the same. Have just had an issue with MCE, actually had a load. The first being about 8 months into my policy I phoned up for a requote as I was thinking of changing bike.

When going over the details the woman says 'and it will be garaged like your present bike?' 'My present bike is not garaged. As you are aware it is parked on a private drive' 'That's true our notes say that but the insurers notes say that it is garaged'

I had chased them 3 or 4 times about the fact that I had not had my certificate of insurance from them and unfortunately had forgotten about it. They kept saying it's in the post. I was a bit stupid for forgetting it and not pursuing it to the end of the earth cos I lost 8 months NC in my first year of owning a bike and had to start all over again.

It has just come up for renewal. I got a letter from them saying 'If you want to renew, call this number and pay a deposit' which I didn't cos they p$ssed me off and got a new policy with H&R who are fab to deal with.

A week after my policy with MCE expired I received a new policy from them saying 'We have renewed your policy...' I phoned them and they said 'Oh it's ok that you didn't phone us, we just debited your account' After ranting and raving they are giving me a refund and cancelling it.

The really bizarre thing is that the start of the new policy was 10 Feb. My old one expired 5 Feb. If I had been relying on htem I would have been screwed if anything happened in those five days. Completely unbelievable...

Ok, so the lesson to take from this thread is that insurance companies are b*st*rds?
Check.
