check his household insurance as most cover you for events like this, is the third party liability tagged on the end somewhere...
£500 doesnt sound too bad for a windscreen and door glass fitted... dont forget the inconveniance also, he might have to hire / borrow a car get taxis which will all cost money.. |

I'd try that first, but if it didn't work, ask the car driver to get two written quotes for the replacement of both window & windscreen to prove how much it is likely to cost.

Gone are the days when fitting a windscreen was 1/2 an hour and a big length of string.
These days it is a specialist repair, the old screen needs to be cut out, the aperture cleaned, primed bonded and glass fitted, trims refitted and cure. Door glass will require trims removed, winder mechanism removed, glass carrier removed, glass fitted and reassembly. You are looking at a good few hours plus parts. If lucky you may be able to get a low cost independent to do it. but if he is trying a flanker, he would get a quote from a national fitter and pay an independent. Car owner is lucky that the cyclist at fault is willing to at least consider making good the damage. when I had to replace a wing, bonnet and screen because of a cyclist some years ago I had to take the cyclist to court, only when the summons landed on his door did he agree to pay
