Baby monitors are a pain in the ass. I've used them before. They tend to 'click' every now and again even when quiet, can be very disruptive to your sleep.

My bikes are locked in an alarmed garage. The alarm has a gprs unit fitted so it texts my mobile phone as soon as its triggered. Keep my mobile near my bed.

The Xena's a nice piece of kit but it's a tad sensitive. I took the batteries out of mine because it kept going off in the middle of the night when the wind caused the bike cover to push on the disc lock.

+1 on what Fizz said.
I had the datafool 3 on the SV1000, a right royal pain in the ar$e.
If you farted near the thing it'd go off, service mode is just a joke.
Got the Meta357 on the Kwak, nowhere near as sensitive as the datafool.

Visible security is the best way to go, but as many have said, if some scrote wants it bad enough, they'll find a way of stealing it.
