Christ, some of you are borderline retarded sometimes.
Firstly, don't take this at face value. Due to the nature of English law judical decisions often come down to specific facts of a case and the media tends to report these incredibly badly, especially when their simplified version of reality will get more coverage and sell more papers. There's almost certainly more to the story than MCN have reported so calm down with the hysteria until more information about the judgement is released. Secondly, don't be a stupid idiot and advocate lying to the police. Not only is it illegal (perverting the course of justice), if it goes to court then you'll have a choice between admitting you lied or continuing to lie and risking a perjury charge. For those of you in professional careers, that can be a real killer if you're not careful. |

I'll let you all into a little secret. I've personally successfully prosecuted a group of motorcyclists for excess speed, based on the average speed of the group rather than any individual rider. It was all on video, the riders could clearly all be seen changing places within the group, and the average speed of the group was over twice the posted speed limit for over three miles. And this was with a fully marked up police car behind them in broad daylight. CPS were going to try and do them for "Racing" on the highway but decided against it after consultation with the officer in the case...
Now you can all send me to Coventry if you want... My real names Billy... |

![]() and you're a retard for not spotting a bit of tongue in cheek banter ![]() . I for one have a clean license and intend to keep it that way. I ride for myself and not for others. Which is why I tend to stray away from large groups these days. I prefer being the lone wolf dear ![]()

MCN does like to cause a stir doesn't it, they tend to sensationalise things like this to make a bigger story of it and make motorcyclists look to be hard done by.
I'll admit I like 4 wheels and 2 wheels and I've been on big group drives with car clubs and won't do it again as there's always some plank you don't want to be associated with, I've also witnessed a crash and been a witness where people accused those 'pressing on' of racing where this simply wasn't the case. Just an aforementioned plank who was unable to perform a simple overtaking manouvre safely. I've not been on a rideout yet on the SV and am not sure I want to, it makes you more of a target in a group, prime example was the superbikes at Knockhill, the police were overtaking dangerously to catch up to groups of bikes for no reason I could see other than a potentially illegal number plate. I think I may try some IAM ride outs if anything, wonder what would happen if the lead rider was stopped while the instructor was catching up ![]() |

Also (as has been said) don't confuse MCN and facts! |

Depending on who is leading the ride depends on whether you'd hear something similar in other circles - I'm sure I've been on org rideouts that started with instructions in case of the worst. |
