Most servicemen I know, past and present, who have seen 'action' don't usually brag about it. You'll hear them say things like "I served in the Gulf" or "I went to the Falklands once". If I'm ever asked my response is "I got caught in a fight in Aldershot with some paras once - I lived to tell the tale" and leave it at that.

And the question is normally followed by the ultimate stupid question "What was it like, did you kill anyone?"

I just say I never went anywhere or did anything. Tends to be a good conversation killer.

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking active service/ former servicemen & women what its like in the forces.

I'm curious about the services and like to read about things that go on.

I think Jo was probably the most educated driver the RAF have ever had. Copious amount of A and O levels. All that to drive big trucks around. But it made her happy. Bless.

My cousin was a Wren officer - she's got to be the most loud, hilarious and scatty person in our family. She's hugely fit and very cute looking for 48 yrs old too. I love her to bits.

2008 Edit :- WAS on 24 hours notice to move to Kosovo, and Gibraltar Guarding Duties on the 28 of this month for about 3 weeks.
Now Just been told today 03/03/08 that it's the Falklands for 6 months next month...
