I have a Datatool alarm which drains the battery really quickly

. Does anyone have any advice for a replacement that would last longer than the standard that I have in at the moment? Any advice would be greatly received

How long are you leaving it between rides? I'm not sure how much more a different battery will give you - if you have a garage perhaps try using an Optimate, or perhaps there is a way of putting the Datatool into a sleep mode (can't remember)?

You could do with checking the current drain of the alarm system to decide whether it is reasonable or not.

As a guide anything more than a few milli-amps will cause problems.

7mA will lose you about 1 amp-hour of battery charge in a week, which I'd suggest is the absolute maximum tolerable, and it really ought to be significantly less. Anything more than that and even a half good battery will struggle to cope with starting and then recharging on the bike.
