Default Spiders

Theres an absolutely massive one lurking the other side of the room. Decided he was gonna make a dash for it about 2 minutes ago but then when i tried dropping the chair leg on him, he scarpered. Think hes hiding under a suitcase at the moment.

Must be the time for them is it? Ive seen about 8 in the house in the last fortnight!

Could be worse I suppose - you could be asking to see his snake!

I get them in the house all the time. I try and trap them and release them out the back. I try and use a pint glass to get them but some of them don't even fit in one and get put back out with slightly shorter legs than they had when they came in lol.

I'll try and get a pic to keep you happy Graham.

Damn things are EVERYWHERE at the the minute. Okay, I'm not exactly a girlie girl, I don't stand on a chair and scream the walls down at the sight of anything with more than two legs, most wayward beasties in my house get caught in a tumbler and put out in the garden... but this thing?! I screamed like a banshee and took off like an Exocet missile. I plucked up enough courage after about about 45 minutes to chase it out the back steps with a broom. Every time I tried to coax this one out of the door it would freak out a little bit and make a beeline (or spiderline, or whatever ) for me.

Apparently the best way to discourage them from doing this is to wave a broom madly in the air while squealing "gowaygowaygowaygowaygowaygowaygowaygowaygoway ..." in a voice verging on the hysterical whle doing a sort of tapdance...

Ahhh, leave 'em be (unless you got a li'l kid that might be terrified of them). They don't do any harm.

Doesn't work!

Have you come across the buggers that jump as well?

We have loads, I just leave them be, they're only the males out looking for a bit of skirt, you can tell by the two boxing glove shaped things (forget the technical term) at the front, each side of the head (basically their knackers)

Yeah I used to watch nature programs as a kid.

I find nature docs about spiders fascinating and in the summer months you'll regularly find me out in the garden feeding flies i cought in the house to any spiderweb i can find.

BUT... they still make my skin crawl! And i saw on the size of the one above a few days ago but thankfully he was out in the garden at the time so i just helped him into a bush so i didnt have to look at him.

Someone once said leaving conkers around keeps them away so i guess its time to collect a couple hundred weight of conckers and scatter them about my house.

Apparently we eat aprox 8 spiders in our lifetimes....while we are asleep. Dont even wanna think about that.
